Learning Outcomes

At the End of the Workshop, You Will Be Able To:

 

  1. Recognize and mitigate common biases in suspect interviews to enhance interviewer objectivity;
  2. Explain suspect decision-making and motivation;
  3. Adapt and use the 11 steps of the StepWise 360 to conduct effective and defensible suspect interviews;
  4. Identify and understand different types of reluctance, including discord, strong emotions, and ambivalence, and address each within a motivational framework;
  5. Analyze and organize evidence and develop effective, semi-structured interview plans that align with the case’s unique needs and challenges;
  6. Use advanced memory-informed techniques and strategic questions, and order topics and present events strategically, to elicit evidence to distinguish innocent from guilty suspects;
  7. Effectively debrief interviews to maintain the integrity of the investigation and promote learning.

Pricing

  • Full price = $2400/person;
  • 5% discount for social service workers (police, child welfare, and adult protection) = $2280 / person;

Previously completed a basic StepWise interviewing workshop (or equivalent)
