Social workers, child or adult welfare specialists, or other professionals who work with adults who are reluctant to disclose or cooperate in interviews.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the workshop, you will be able to:

 

  1. Develop an interview plan tailored to the needs of each client and the reason for contact.
  2. Use informed consent procedures to maintain engagement in the interview process.
  3. Establish or repair rapport, work with resistance, and manage disruptive behaviours in respectful and collaborative ways.
  4. Use memory-enhancing and motivational techniques to gather reliable information when investigating allegations of abuse, assessing a family’s strengths and needs, developing and monitoring family plans, or assessing a clients’ stated intentions.
  5. Appropriately respond to clients’ non-verbal and verbal cues during interviews.      
  6. Define and identify complex needs and their impact forensic interviews.
